Everybody needs anti-virus software

Today the Internet and corporate networks are the chief method of malware distribution. Virus, worm, Trojan, and other dangerous parasites, install themselves, deteriorate computer performance, invade your privacy, steal sensitive information, and can spread in hours across millions of computers.

They can damage and destroy data, embarrass companies by spamming all their email clients with copies of the same virus, worm, Trojan, and other malware, causing billions in lost revenues and customers, and potentially, can even render computer hardware completely useless.

Many Internet service providers today, offer virus scanning, but this only covers certain types of malware, and no one product, even the most expensive, or well known, or talked about “flavour-of-the-month”, will ever be 100% effective.

You also need to protect your computer from viruses potentially transferred by Floppy "Stiffy" Disks, USB Memory Sticks/Drives, External Hard Disk Drives, CD's and DVD's.

The bottom line is, you can never have enough protection when you open up a connection to other computers and people, for the purpose of exchanging data.
